THE VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER'S ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA

Mission Statement

"To provide a responsible voice and leadership to the Volunteer Fire Fighter of British Columbia, along with developing programs that reflect their needs, keeping in mind our obligations to further fire prevention, training and education".

What We Do

The Volunteer Fire Fighters' Association of B.C. operates within B.C. and the Yukon interacting with all fire departments having volunteers. We work for the interests of the volunteer departments and the volunteers in particular. This involves contact through our Regional Representatives, an Annual General Meeting, assisting in sponsoring provincial and regional training seminars and the production of a newsletter.

We also promote the interests of volunteers by meeting with and communicating with other fire related agencies or associations, such as: the B.C. Fire Chiefs, the Training Officers, Fire Prevention Officers, associations from other provinces, the Canadian Fire Chiefs, the newly formed Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association and the International Volunteer Fire Fighters.

We assist with the Fire Commissioners Office, The Justice Institute of B.C. and the Provincial
Government to promote public education, improve training, help establish standards and work on provincial wide initiatives, such as a certification program for all Fire Fighters.
